This is what I expected, especially after digging through my records to see what my gynie tested me for two years ago -- same test. (Duh on my part -- I forgot about her tests until after the appointment, and I got the appointment so fast there wasn't time to pull records.)
So I'm going to go pick the meds up in like an hour....
And hopefully not die from pain like I almost did last time I took antibiotics.
Other v-girls: do antibiotics give you INSANE PAIN? I was on them for a long time when I was trying to get diagnosed and I don't think they made it worse...but then I went on them for a UTI after diagnosis and spent a week crying on the potty.
Anyway, I'll let you know what happens. OBVIOUSLY.
No big hopes, no lack of hope -- just hope, and knowledge that whatever happens, I'll be okay.
P.S. Almost forgot, next step with this doctor is a cystoscopy. I.e., teeny camera traveling up urethra. YEOWCH.
I am hoping that the meds work for you!!
ReplyDeleteI had a cystoscopy done last April (2008) and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. I had imagined the worst horrible pain next to childbirth. Really, I was having a normal (okay, as close to normal as possible) conversation with the urogynocologist while he was doing the procedure.
Good luck!
Kim
antibiotics do hurt, but not as bad as years long infections!
ReplyDeleteKim, I have one in a couple of weeks and it's nice to hear from someone that it's not so bad because I'm terrified! I just hope they let my boyfriend stay with me, I don't think I can do it without him.
ReplyDeleteEsther, I didn't have any trouble with antibiotics other than they gave me thrush, which they gave me a pessary for, which they think gave me the v. So... be careful and steer clear of pessaries! But antibiotics after having v didn't seem to make it any worse.
I'll let you know how the cystoscopy goes once I've had it - I'm a little more relaxed than I was about it. Also discovered once and for all that I am very lactose intolerant... I'm thinking maybe there's a link?
Well its good its not an infection, but sucks that you have no answers! I've never (yet) had a problem with antibiotics, but they've also never really helped me with my coochie pain. So I guess its a draw. I hope they can find something to make you feel better!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys!!! I'm hopeful...I haven't had any huge flares yet on the antibiotics, so that is one major concern out of the way.
ReplyDeleteStef, I hope your cystoscopy goes okay. Thanks for the reassurance, Kim!
